Education
Education is a cornerstone of our society and our republic. Year after year, Senator Chafin has carried legislation and sponsored budget items to better our education system, increase funding for our schools, and provide teachers better pay. Senator Chafin has also continuously supported legislation that gives parents more control over the education choices for their children.

Southwest Virginia has some of the best colleges and universities in the Commonwealth. Ben has worked closely with our universities and community colleges to create new programs that directly meet new and growing needs for certain industries and jobs.

In 2019, Senator Chafin supported the tuition rate freeze that led to the first time in twenty years that public schools across Virginia did not raise tuition rates. It is important that the cost of higher-education in Virginia is affordable and accessible to all Virginians.

In recognition of his hard work supporting education, Senator Chafin has received multiple awards and recognitions from education organizations in Virginia. As your Senator, Ben will always fight for better schools and support our teachers in Southwest Virginia.
